MacriumReflect Free will burn the backup images to CD or DVD and span
them as necessary. The images are compressed and only contain the
used portion of a drive without the swap file. IME, total backup size
is around 60% of the original size. YMMV

Not getting into a pissing contest here, but Macrium has a 28mb
installation file. I wonder just how big it would be installed? The
Ghost and Explorer together is less than 3mb's installed, or should I
say, no install? All of what Macrium does is impressive:

Create a disk image whilst running Windows using Microsoft Volume Shadow
copy Service (VSS).
Image to Network, USB, FireWire drives and DVD.
Built in scheduler.
32 bit and native 64 bit versions.
Industry leading compression levels and speed.
Linux based Rescue CD with Network access and full GUI. Only 6.5MB in
size!
Built in CD/DVD packet writing engine. Supports packet writing to DVD DL
media with Windows Vista.
HTML log files.

.... that's a lot more than I need and certainly puts many many entries
into the registry and files everywhere. I use a boot disk, that any
computer user should already have, boot into DOS, open Ghost, make
image, close Ghost, reboot. If I need a file not currently on the imaged
drive, I use Explorer to restore it. If I need to put the image on DVD,
any burning software will do, and is probably on the computer already.
Yes, Macrium is impressive, but very redundant. most of what it has the
capability of doing, is already there, you just have to know how to use
it. Backup... backup often!!
