HP Photosmart C8180 all-in-one; bought October 2008.

This has a stand-alone copy mode. Does not require connection to a
computer. Apply power, put original on scanner glass, press "copy" (either
b/w or colour). Has worked fine until very recently. Now display shows
"Starting copy" and power light flashes; no error messages.

Printing from computer works fine.

Connection to computer is via ethernet, and until recently scan function
worked by browsing to its web page and selecting "scan"; now nothing
happens.

At power on or off the scanning mechanism moves a little, presumably from/to
its parking position.

Any ideas to fix it?
