From: tinne123 on 17 May 2010 13:45 Hi there, I fancy gonna go crazy from the current directory in R2008b. As I was used to "work" folder from R2006a, here I also created one in C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2008b\work. Under Set path / ... I set work default, and removed the path Documents / MATLAB, created while installation. I also deleted the MATLAB folder in Documents. To my astonishment, 3 folders persisted as possible working destinations, as displayed in the Current directory list (located in the top centre of the console): 1. work, 2. the PC Desktop and 3. Documents / MATLAB which is non-existing. The active path of Current Directory seems to switch from work to Desktop from own initiative. Now you may imagine which mess I created by erroneously not noticing that the path changed to Desktop. I will need to delete about 30 files without having the guarantee it will not happen again. My QUESTION: After this happened, under Preferences / Current Directory I set the number of remembered directories to 1. Is this the way to prevent the directory to switch from one path to another? For me it does not matter to have work under C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2008b\work or elsewhere (maybe I even gonna change it soon), the point is that I need to control the active path. I know that e.g. EViews uses the last active path to run ordinary operations with files, but in programs it uses one (and only one) default directory unless specified otherwise. Full control over what you are doing... PS Is there anything like a user questionnaire? I am DISAPPOINTED from R2008 after R2006. The upgrade happened just bcs of university licence expiry, but I still consider returning to R2006. Of course the time costs are considerable... and R2008 is anyway out-dated, compared to R2010.
