I will try those this evening to see if I > hear anything. > > Thanks, > Greg I had the exact same problem of system noise on a laptop EXCEPT it was with external speakers (I don't use headphones). Turns out the problem was the SPEAKERS. I am not sure weather you have tried different headphones or speakers connected to the headphone jack or not but just a thought. From: Greg on 10 Mar 2010 14:50 I haven't tried different earphones. I can't hear the sounds thru the speakers. Another person said it was due to the lack of shielding around the earphone assembly inside the notebook. I may follow his recommendations and take it apart and shield the earphone assembly better and see if that works. This seems to be a big issue with the Vostro 1500 model. I honestly dont remember having this problem when I had vista loaded on it. I may just be going slighty nuts.
