Other than checking every time, after you've checked mail with Eudora and before you've tried to open the inbox, to see if the spool file still exists. If it does, something - typically a spam - is hung up in it. Normally the spool file self-destructs after each mail check since it is, as its name implies, a temporary way station for mail on its way to your inbox. Easiest way is to ignore the situation *until* you get that error message that your inbox is corrupted. *Answer "not only no, but h*** no" to the "Do you want to fix" question, then go check for the spool file that will almost certainly exist, and delete it. > What is a good way to save inbox >messages so I can have them for future reference? As you read new email, transfer it to the appropriate mailbox for storage. If you have multiple email addys you can use filters on the "to:" address to send mail automagically to their own inboxes [eg., ojiii-Comcast-In, oj3-cpcug.org-In, etc.]. Since most spam gets to you via use of BCCs, that is usually the only thing that ends up in your inbox. >Another question... > >I have noticed a lot of spam/scam messages coming from certain blocks >of addresses, spoofed or not and was wondering about the feasability >of building a filter. Any hints? Starting with Eudora 6, it included a boolean spam recognition/kill feature. Hope this offers a little help. -- Ogden Johnson (nee OJ III) [Email to Yahoo address may be burned before reading. Lower and dot the sig and you'll net me at comcast.]
