That's why I souped up the Imac to it's maximum potential of three gigs of memory when I bought it in 2007. I hate having to quit programs when I don't need them and restart programs when I need them, one by one. It's so annoying to have to wait. Sometimes the computer seems to slow down, so when that happens, i log out and back in again and then it speeds up again because it doesn't have some much data to process at once. Rober

It's so annoying to have to wait. it doesn't take that long to launch most apps, especially a second time and not having so many running means the ones you are using are that much faster (no thrashing).

Unfortunately, because of the Great Recession, as I've dubbed it, I can't afford to upgrade to a more powerful computer. >> I hate having to quit programs when I don't need them and restart >> programs when I need them, one by one. I quit some programs sometimes, such as Acrobat, Preview, and Quicktime, but usually before long, I need to open them again, so it seems to be fruitless to close them. It's like closing my cookie bag and putting the bag at the back of the cupboard, only go back again to every hour to reach for the bag and open it and take out another cookie. If I were to eat cookies that often, I may as well just keep the bag open all the time. Robert |
