From: Henrik Carlqvist on 16 Jul 2010 18:57 Thanks for all quick replies! I'd rather not mess around with files in users home directories, I prefer global settings which go to places like /etc or /usr... Lew gave me two really good links which seems to boil down to the following to disable nepomuk: -8<--------------------------- cd /usr/share/autostart # Make nepomukserver not run in autostart sudo mv nepomukserver.desktop nepomukserver.desktop.goaway -8<--------------------------- I can easily create and distribute a custom Slackware package which removes /usr/share/autostart/nepomukserver.desktop It seems harder to get rid of akonadi, but at least it can be setup to use less space, it seems that I will need to distribute a modified /usr/share/config/akonadi/mysql-global.conf to lower the value of innodb_log_file_size I have not yet tried any of the solutions above. I hope to be able to try it on a fresh Slackware 13.1 on my new home system in a few days. After my vacation I will try it live at work with more users. regards Henrik -- The address in the header is only to prevent spam. If you'll be recreating all the user accounts, Henrik, you could put these directories and this file in /etc/skel beforehand so that all new accounts "inherit" it. -- Chick Tower For e-mail: aols2 DOT sent DOT towerboy AT xoxy DOT net

Thanks for the advices, but unfortunately it doesn't apply very well on my situation. The users are existing users with home directories on NFS servers. I have also modified the Slackware 13.1 installation so that the directory ~/.kde_slack13 is used instead of ~/.kde. A few years ago I found out the hard way that different versions of kde didn't play to well together in the same configuration directory. As an administrator I'd rather not mess around in users home directories. regards Henrik -- The address in the header is only to prevent spam. What, users do enough damage in there without you adding to it :) Grant.

Fair enough. I haven't really tested this, but as far as I can see you can create/modify the file /usr/share/config/kres-migratorrc for system-wide effect instead... Martin
