I tried selecting the disk in finder. I tried Disk Utility and Disk Warrior. None of these seem to provide a way to change the name of a disk. The disk is currently named and I want to rename it.

Wonderful!! That's exactly what I needed and it worked. I tried selecting in Finder and that didn't work, although Help said it would, so it never occurred to me to select the actual icon.

Right or ctl-click, Get Info, look for "Name & Extenstion", click it, change it. -- Thank you and have a nice day.
