From: cje on 25 Mar 2010 11:16 Is there a configuration or utility that will stop a window from jumping back to where it was if you stray out of the scroll bar whilst scrolling up or down? I find it very annoying! I'm trying to use the scrollbar to avoid using the scroll wheel which is causing an RSI type problem with my finger! Using xp Home SP3

I'm actually asking on behalf of a friend Alan. Yes, he sometimes does use the cursor keys and he's alternating hands as well. I'm really surprised that there isn't a way to stop the window jumping back if you slip out of the narrow scroll bar area. I'd call it a bug myself but as Windows has acted like this for more than a decade I can only guess Microsoft think it a good idea, I fail to see any advantages in the current action. Can anyone think of any? My and my friends favourite OS, RISC OS's GUI doesn't act in this unhelpful way! n.b. I see that this is a rather low traffic newsgroup, is there another better one for questions on XP? Chris |
