From: ykä on 8 Apr 2010 03:46 I bought a new laptop, which had a preinstalled trial copy of MS-Office. I uninstalled it, since I use OpenOffice. Now Windows update program every day suggest me to install Office Genuine Advantage Notification -tool (KB949810). This is frustrating, since I don't have any kind of MS-office. How can I avoid this? I don't want to install unnecessary programs into my new computer. Is it possible for Microsoft to somehow check the existence of any MS-office program (legal or illegal) before offering these kind of updates? I red in the net that it is not possible to uninstall this OGA after its installation. So what should I do? Do I have to choose between: 1) installing a program I don't want 2) every day uncheck the checkbox in Windows Update to not install it 3) Not to use Windows Update? All of these are something I don't want to do.

Did you also uninstall the Activation Assistant? Run MS Update manually, modify the settings to ignore this update "ykä" <ykä@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6A8F5BEA-76D1-46F9-AD07-F10AEB1ABDEE(a)microsoft.com... > I bought a new laptop, which had a preinstalled trial copy of MS-Office.
