My goal is to have my files, favorites, desktop arrangement, swap file, etc.
on my second hard drive separate from the hard drive running Windows XP. How
do I do this?
From: Db on
depending on the system
you may ascertain an
improvement in performance
with the use of a second disk
drive, especially if it is faster
and has more space than
the main disk drive.

further, it has always been
my opinion and experience
to have my docs on a separate
disk,

just in case the main hard
drive needs to be reformatted
for some reason.

so you can move "my docs"
by right clicking on it and
accessing its properties
page.

the default location can
be change there and it
will move the entire
folder to the new location.

you can also move the
swap file, aka page file,
virtual memory to the
new drive and see if
you notice some
improvement.

you can google for
the above for directions
on moving the swap file.

however, keep in mind
that freeing up disk space
on the main drive may not
be sufficient, that is if you
are experiencing some
form of sluggishness.

but in any case I think you
are on the right track with
seeing if freeing disk space
is all that is needed for your
system.

incidentally, I would leave
favorites alone but try to
relocate the ie temp file
over to the new location
and maybe tweak the
size to be around 100 megs.

too much or too little space
does affect the browser/ing.

and leave the desktop
alone.
