From: DaveC on 8 Jul 2010 16:26 Right now PDFs open in a window within Safari 5. When I click on a URL that is a PDF file, I want this file to download to my hard drive. I then want to double-click the file icon and have it open in Preview. How to I change this behavior so that PDFs do not open in Safari 5, but instead download to my hard drive? Thanks.

Onyx does it for sure, but I found I still prefer Safari to view PDFs, and I just use 'Download To...' when I want to keep it. -- Andy Hewitt <http://web.me.com/andrewhewitt1/>

In general, if you want to do anything different to default, remember to control (or right) click to see the options available. In this case there is surely one that allows to save. -- dorayme

To add to what others have suggested -- If you know the link is a PDF, using an Option-click on the link should make it download. -- Matt Broughton Only relatives are absolute.
