I am on the 3 network using a Windows Mobile smartphone that did not
come from 3. I would like to be able to make free Skype calls which is
apparently available to all 3 customers. Is this possible without a
Skype enabled phone from 3? Someone told me I need to install a
special version of Skype from 3 but if such a thing exists I cannot
locate it.

If you are Julian Moss?
It's a bit sad something that took me a minute to google
you couldn't do yourself

http://www.skype.com/intl/en/download/skype/windowsmobile/

The calls on 3 won't be free, but will come out of a 5 per month
internet bolt on, which will also cover your planet 3 wap
and internet use

Isn't that like Skype Lite and costs your mobile call rate?

That expects a good internet connection, such as a WifI connection.
It doesn't really work at all over the 3G mobile internet with it's typical
latency of 120ms to 200ms and beyond.

If you'd googled a bit before answering you'd know that it's not how 3 do
it.
