Hi,

I have setup and installed the Hyper V on a Windows Server, created a
virtual machine and installed the os. I can not get the virtual machine to
connect to the network, I have followed some notes on setting up a network
card but it wont connect to my network at all.

Any ideas.

Hi there --

I had a similar problem with networking and the issue for me was that I had
inadvertently enabled VLANs on the virtual network, but had not configured
the VM network adapter to function on the same VLAN. You might want to
check that possibility out.

Also verify that you have a network adapter dedicated for VM use, and that
the type of network you created is external.

The best documentation source is in the Windows Server 2008 R2 Technical
Library:

Hyper-V at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753637(WS.10).aspx

The Hyper-V Getting Started guide also has a topic on virtual networks
named "Step 4: Configuring virtual networks." The guide is here:

Take a look at this blog to get an overview of how networks get configured
with Hyper V. It's not intuitive.
