Actually I do. The problem lies directly behind your keyboard. So, you "know the computer is a 2001" cause you "found that out on Dell". Did you think maybe to use the instructions for dis-assembling and re-assembling the PC *beforehand*? http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx100/en/index.htm Look at it this way: given the age of the machine, you probably got it inexpensively. Lesson learned. With the instructions, that system could be completely broken down and back together properly in less than an hour.

But I'm guessing at this point. I don't think it's the OS but again, I'm guessing. Maybe take the ram chips out and re-seat them one at a time to make sure they are in properly.

you still haven't told us why you took it apart so that remains a mystery and could very well give us insight on why it isn't working now... but the first error message you mentioned is not a software (windows) error, it is hardware. likewise with this second error. i suggest that you start from scratch and remove everything. and i mean everything including processor, memory, all drives (hard, floppy and optical), any pci cards. just leave the video card/monitor, keyboard and mouse connected. then make sure you have both the approximately 1.5"x .5" rectangular power connector and the .5" square power connector installed. power on. you should get a beep code for the processor missing... or you have a motherboard problem. next add the cpu and listed for beep codes. next add the memory and listen for beep codes. next add a cd rom drive and insert a bootable cd, then add the hard disk, test booting again. then expansion cards. and so on... be sure to unplug the power (from the back of the system is the easiest way) and then hold the power button until the flea light on the motherboard goes out before removing or adding any component. i suggest you do this otherwise any answer you get is just a guess. you have to troubleshoot it, particularly since you are not willing to give a whole lot of detail. good luck.
