From: bandi on 17 Dec 2009 22:37 Leonard, after going to Webshots and opening many windows at their site I saw several error messages that warned me of what I finally decided was ActiveX controls that IE was trying to protect me from. I don't need or want their protection. Would like to go ahead and install Active X. Will work on that next. From: Singapore Computer Service on 18 Dec 2009 12:35 Hello, See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700 [ How do I uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 8? ] Or you can just install Firefox - http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ - and run it alongside IE8. From: Tim Meddick on 18 Dec 2009 17:42 As John Gilliver said in his reply; simply install Firefox then download your Webshots software without the need to uninstall anything. You can then go back to using IE8 and if you get another similar problem - just open your Firefox browser instead. If you have two browsers on your PC then if you have a problem with one the other may well not have that problem. When I say install "Firefox", there are a number of good alternative browsers available : Firefox 3.5 : http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.5.6&os=win&lang=en-GB Google Chrome : http://www.google.co.uk/chrome/eula.html Apple Safari (for XP) : http://www.apple.com/safari/download/ Opera 10.10 : http://www.opera.com/download/?os=windows&ver=10.10&local=y == Cheers, Tim Meddick, Peckham, London. :-) "bandi" <mnkwms(a)charter.net> wrote in message news:OxKptO0fKHA.4528(a)TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > Is there any way to uninstall Internet Explorer 8? However, if you really want to uninstall IE8 then you should be able to do this simply be going to "Control Panel" > "Add or Remove Programs" and clicking on the "IE8" item and then answering "Remove". Once IE8 is uninstalled you could then re-install IE6 by downloading the setup file from : http://download.microsoft.com/download/ie6sp1/finrel/6_sp1/W98NT42KMeXP/EN-US/ie6setup.exe == Cheers, Tim Meddick, Peckham, London. :-) |
