From: Andy Hewitt on 8 Apr 2010 17:10 It seems like I'm having a bit of a Microsoft bashing session, but it's not intentional, I can't help it if their stuff doesn't work right! I manage a site for my sister's churches. I use iWeb to do this - it's quick and easy, and I own it (before you all tell me to use something else). I've just had a report back that someone couldn't read all of an article posted on a blog page using IE8. Sure enough, they're right, you get the first few lines, and then a blank space. It displays fine in all other browsers. This is just a plain text box. In the end I had to remove all text that was in italics, or underlined, then it displays fine. -- Andy Hewitt <http://web.me.com/andrewhewitt1/>

To be honest, iWeb is not a much better web citizen than IE, so it isn't necessarily IE's fault in this case, but it probably is. Daniele

Actually I would say that iWeb is a much worse web citizen than IE8, not too much better than IE6! -- Woody www.alienrat.com

Yeah, that's likely, although I've checked the source code around the bit that's not working, and can see no logical reason why it doesn't work compared to the rest of the text. It only contains plain formatting commands. I have got the pages to view OK if you switch IE into 'Compatibility' mode. -- Andy Hewitt <http://web.me.com/andrewhewitt1/>

It only contains plain formatting > commands. Didn't you say it was in a text box? There are no valid plain text formatting commands in html in a text box. Or do you mean ordinary text? Whats the code look like? > I have got the pages to view OK if you switch IE into 'Compatibility' > mode. Yes, compatibility puts it into IE7 mode, and IE7 doesn't have the standards compliance of 8. -- Woody www.alienrat.com |
