From: Matthew Riddel on 15 Jan 2010 05:03 Hello, I have a small Windows Server 2003 Server running IIS 6. In turn this runs 3 websites. The Server is also a domain controller. When I try access one of my websites from an external computer, the internet drops on the server, subsequently meaning that the internet on all my clients drops and they have no access to their documents etc. I see great benefits in hosting my own websites but this is just a nuisance. Does anyone know a potential fix for this problem?? Thanks Matt -- Matthew Riddel
From: Meinolf Weber [MVP-DS] on 15 Jan 2010 05:33 Hello Matthew, This configuration sounds horrible. A domain controller should never be multihomed and connected to the internet. Please post an unedited ipconfig /all from it and also a problem domain client. Seems that DNS is one of your problems with accessing them. To the OP: multihomed implies two or more network cards in your server, typically one for the internet and one of the LAN. If your server is multihomed then its worth having a long and hard think over whether it needs to be, as multihoming seems to be the cause of many network woes. From: Matthew Riddel on 15 Jan 2010 10:56 Hi Guys, sorry got the problem sorted. One of the websites I was hosting was quite bulky with alot of images on the front page causing the load of the page to hang meaning the internet dropped. I cut down the images on the front page and it cleared it up. (Oh and by the way it isn't multihomed) Thanks anyway, Matt -- Matthew Riddel
