As far as I know, though, it won't create files that way. If you edit one and save it then the last line gets its "\n" added. I just tested it with vim to be sure. Maybe not all vi though. I haven't used emacs much, but it might be that it can edit non-text files where the ability to create files without line terminators was needed. Not so convenient for a default, but sometimes useful. -- glen |
