I received a .ISO file which is purpoted to be an image of a DVD. It is
about 7.57 gigs big.

If I double click on it, it mounts a disk called CDROM with 0 items in
it. No error message issued.

But with VLC, I can *open file* this .ISO and it will run that DVD fine,
complete with the menus.

When I created .ISOs of some of my DVDs to be loaded onto my laptop for
travel, the resulting .ISOs could be mounted as disks and you then have
access to the files inside (namely the TS folder that you point VLC to).

Is there a way to find out what type of .ISO I got which can be used
directly by VLC, but which appears as a CDROM with 0 items to the finder ?

Is this some error in the way that the original image was copied, or
just that OS-X is unable to mount such images (I assume it is double
layer DVD if it is at 7.57 gigs).
