From: artsyannie on 2 Dec 2009 14:11 How do I inent the second line of a bulleted list? Thanks!
From: Stefan Blom on 2 Dec 2009 14:22 Is this Word 2007? Then you should right-click the bulleted paragraph and choose Adjust List Indents from the context menu. In the dialog box, "Bullet position" is the distance from the left margin to the bullet character; "Text indent" is the distance to the text from the left margin. For a hanging indent, you would specify a larger value than for "Bullet position." For "Follow number with," choose "Tab character." Select "Add tab stop at," and then specify the same value that you chose for "Text indent." When you are done, click OK. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "artsyannie" <artsyannie(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8FBCAB3F-9CEE-4C52-9E7C-4DC16A91964A(a)microsoft.com... > How do I inent the second line of a bulleted list? How do I indent the second line of a numbered header, do that the second line appears under the text of the first line, and not before the text of the first line. My question is for Word 2003. Thank you. -- Ann Glazer
From: artsyannie on 2 Dec 2009 15:46 I tried this on my document and it didn't change the 2nd line indent. I couldn't see that it made any change. What I did find though on "Follow number with," I selected "space" instead of "tab character", the first line was brought closer to the bullet and the 2nd line was left at the original hanging indent setting. Once I finally understood the purpose of this little exercise from the author of the paper, I showed him a different way to get the effect he wanted...which was to simply make this particular part of the paper more "readable". I didn't like the idea of the 2nd line being indented anyway. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME! I did learn of the option you described by right clicking which I hadn't known before. Have a great day! See http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html. In particular, take a look at the description of the indentation options in the Customize Outline Numbered List dialog box. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Ann Glazer" <Ann.Glazer.55c7d34(a)officefrustration.com> wrote in message news:Ann.Glazer.55c7d34(a)officefrustration.com... > > artsyannie;3568222 Wrote: >> How do I indent the second line of a bulleted list?
