I have a client with SBS 2003 Premium R2. Exchange was not installed because
only 8 users/clients. This is a small nonprofit so funds to support are
small, so that is why they didn't install all the features, as they are not
needed. The Premium Techonologies also were not installed because of the
small group. I want to install WSUS to ease support of the clients but the
recommended way is to have all components installed, Exchange, SQL, and ISA
before installing WSUS. What are reommendations? If I could go ahead
without the other technologies, can I install them later and will there be
repurcusions if I do? If so, would I need to uninstall WSUS before installing
these, Exchange, ISA, SQL, Sharepoint, etc?

There's no incremental license cost to installing all the componets. In fact
the product is designed for all (Standard edition)componets to be installed
even if they are not used. SQL and ISA might be exceptions if there is no
database need and a suitable firewall already exists. Exchange and
Sharepoint should be installed even if not used.

WSUS is ok to install at any time
(Install and download current following instructions to install on SBS2003

The reason that all things should be installed is because
that is the way SBS was designed to run.

Unfortunately Installing these Services AFTER The server is up and running
and users are added can cause issues if you do not know what you are doing.

Moving users to correct AD Group Security groups etc.

In your current situation if you would like to add those services
My Recommendation would be to Backup the server
Flatten it, and RE install the server completely and using Wizards configure
the server
add users, computers etc.

Yes I understand this is a Non Profit, but realize you may have more support
in
trying to make it work depending on the current state of AD etc etc.

(I've found that most SBS servers that are not installed completely are only
saved by flattening and starting over)

Your situation may be different, I'm just letting you know that you may have
issues.
(And you need to know what to do to fix them.)

At this point I would not install ISA, but get a good Firewall and put the
SBS in a 1 NIC configuration.
