Hi All

Has anybody had a problem installing SP3? Thats SP 1.0 to SP3.0

The wizard asks for CD#1 then says
"The wizard cannot access file: D:\swwi\....\English_i386_Solidworks.msi"
What am I doing wrong?
The requested file is available on the CD,
I've tried copying it to the harddisk with the same result.
I've upgraded the OS to XP Pro SP2
I've tried SW SP 3.1

Some help would be appreciated

I just upgraded today without problem. Did you upgrade the OS between
SP1 and SP3?

I have had this happen to me several times dating back a 2 or 3
releases. The only way I could fix it was to uninstall SolidWorks clean
the registry of all SolidWorks references and re-install.

I hope you can find a less drastic solution, if so please share it.

Thanks for your assistance.

While I was preparing my initial email I allowed the wizard to stay active
and low and behold when I had shut down the news service I noticed the
wizard had progressed

thanks again
John

ps still don't know the cause of the problem.

John,
this problem has been existing since 2006 SP 0.0 and they just don't want to
know about it...
Here is what you have to do:
After extracting the downloaded update file cancel the automated upgrade
procedure (it won't work because the drive it specifies does not exist).
Instead, go directly to the folder where the upgarde file had been extracted
to and run directly sw2006-1.0-3.0-i.exe (in case if you upgrade from SP 1.0
to SP 3.0) rather than swspmanager.exe (which is started with the automated
upgrade). From this onwards the upgrade procedure works as expected.

John
