I've tried various methods, Slipstream, Ghost, USB floppy, nothing works.

Latest attempt: Slipstream using this as a guide

The computer starts the install process, it even formats the hard drive, &
goes thru the file copy process, then on the reboot, it comes up with the
BOD

Please maintain a single thread whenever possible. The information you left
out here from the previous thread may give someone the clue they need to
help you along. I added the original post above...

Gateway M255?
Which one? M255-E, M255-E SB or M255-G?

E or G.. This driver?

The one with the note:
'Note: This is the SATA hard drive driver for the Gateway notebook computer
models listed below. This driver is needed during installation of a
non-Gateway supplied operating system.'

I am quite shocked that the slipstreaming did not work. I have used that
method a few dozen times now - even use the slipstreamed version on my
unattended installs over the network.

M255-G: I've been using slipstream since XP SP2 came out. This is the first
machine I've had issues with. I've built a few SATA machines, some went
right thru, one needed the drivers from floppy. The STOP BOD, is the same
screen I get if I ghost my usual production image onto the machine. With
the slipstream I get way further than with the USB Floppy. The slipstream
for all purposes seems to work, up until the first reboot, then windows can
not find a HD. Those are the drivers I used. I created a floppy from them,
then copied those files to the i386\$OEM$\Textmode\ directory on my CD.

An 82801 RAID controller floppy from intel or the boards mfg,will have several
options in F6,you need to install the right drivers from the floppy
disk.Also,SP2
isnt installed that way,install SP2 in windows explorer,booting to xp
floppy disks
is also wrong,use the xp cd.If core xp isnt installed to the RAID set yet
then
youre totally running backwards,read the owners manual......

What are you talking about? I already stated that the manufacturers floppy
disk isn't working, at least not from a USB floppy, which is my only floppy
option on this model laptop.

I used the floppy discs to boot in an effort to get XP to remember the
floppy drive, AFTER I tried multiple install attempts from bootable CD.

Installing XP with SP2 via slipstream is a very normal installation process.
Why should I install XP, upgrade to SP1, then upgrade again to SP2, when it
can been done all at once? What would be the point of installing "core XP"
the same problems would prevail, along with probably a few others , being
that this hardware is years newer than XP non-service packed.

I am not attempting to get in a war with you here, but your statements are
completely off-the-wall. You said "read the owners manual", well I'd suggest
you do some reading of your own. Your suggestions are antiquated at best,
and in a real-world work environment those ideas would bring the work
process of supporting hundreds of users to a screaming halt.
