Hello,

I'm currently enrolled in a local community college and wish to
major in Geology. My math skills are not at the level that they should
be. My goal is to really understand and get good at math. I have a
month or two before i begin fall classes. Once i enrolled at the local
community college I was given a math placement test. My class will be
Elementary Algebra A but I want to study on my own and need a good
book that will help me along on my journey. Thanks in advance for any
recommendation.

Why not find out what book they will be using and start reading it and
working some problems--answers to odd numbered problems are usually in
the back of the textbook. If you don't find that book "friendly"
enough, go look for a companion book in your library. You seem to
possess the right attitude, but be patient with yourself. Good luck!
