From: rogeepete on 3 Jun 2010 08:59 Ever since I moved up to IE8 a couple of weeks ago, I get a pop up every other day- "Set Up Windows Explorer 8 - Welcome to Windows Explorer 8" where they want me (I think) to "personalize" it. There is no box where I can click so that I will not keep getting this message in the future. How can I kill this? Thanks -- Roger

Either that or use a real browser like Firefox, Chrome, Opera or Seamonkey. -- Alias
From: PA Bear [MS MVP] on 3 Jun 2010 10:50 [X-post to IE General newsgroup...again!] Are you running WinXP SP2 or SP3? What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)? Were any of these applications running in the background when you installed IE8? Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)? Just go ahead and setup IE 8 starting with that popup box. Then it won't come back.
