From: Mike on 6 Mar 2010 12:10 I want a phone. I don't need a camera BUT it seems that they are compulsory nowadays I need to be able to use Mickysnot Outlook for emails and Outlook Calendar. I need to be able to use /read Wordlike files, PDF and excel on the phone. A qwerty keyboard is O.K. but could use a touch screen..... Everyone says that the Blackberry 9700 is what I need apart from one friend who has the Nokia with the long slide out keyboard and another friend who says the HTC phone is the one to have... Any thoughts or experiences please?

Wi-fi download speed on the 8900 is much slower than the N79. 3. Screen is bigger and higher resolution on the Blackberry (but the same as an N97). 4. GPS is native on the N79, but server dependent on Blackberry. 5. Surfing is native on the N79, but via servers on Blackberry. The latter improves speed at the price of resolution etc. 6. Blackberry can only view PDF's a page at a time in emails in low resolution, whereas the N79 can open them native. 7. There are three ways of viewing emails on the N79, only one AFAIK on Blackberry. 8 N79 supports VOIP via Wi-fi; AFAIK the Blackberry won't.

You need outlook on the phone? or you need to talk to the same server that outlook does? > I need to be able to use /read Wordlike files, PDF and excel on the phone. > > A qwerty keyboard is O.K. but could use a touch screen..... > > Everyone says that the Blackberry 9700 is what I need apart from one friend > who has the Nokia with the long slide out keyboard and another friend who > says the HTC phone is the one to have... An android phone (HTC Desire, Google Nexus One etc) I believe the HTC versions have better webdav sync for Exchange (I prefer to use IMAPS and SMTPS, it still acts like push mail) I don't sync to an Exchange calendar, again the HTC software is supposedly better in this area. |
