Next: JSH: Maybe they're fakes?
From: MichaelW on 13 Jul 2010 19:25 To all on sci.math who respond to JSH threads... Recent threads launched by JSH are re-hashes of ideas long discounted or shown to be already discovered. It is therefore proposed that a centralised moderated collection of articles be put together that can be referred to so that newcomers don't have to re-invent the wheel, so to speak. All articles will be maths only. Your choices in the poll are one of the following: FAQ Wiki blogspot Nothing Other (please specify) Moderation should be at least two people so if you want to put your hand up to assist then let me know that as well. Thank you for your time.

It's nice to see that JSH has attracted a new generation of fans/addicts. He's been going on like this for about fifteen years. For some reason his stuff is weirdly compelling. When he takes periodic vacations from posting, people miss him. He's got his own page at crank.net, http://www.crank.net/harris.html You might consider reading through that material before starting yet another fan site.

The crank.net page only discusses his FLT proof. We now have TSP, core error, prime gap, factorisation/quadratic residues/ Pell's equation, BQDE, prime counting continuous function, definition of proof, spherical packing, the object ring and more. The problem with crank.net is (1) we ourselves do not have control over the content and (2) it is not being updated very frequently these days. Nevertheless do you want to be put down for Other(crank.net) as your vote? Regards, Michael W.

No thanks. I no longer pay attention to JSH. From a sociological point of view, I'm more interested in observing the JSH addicts :-) Actually my own theory is that someday, after the collapse of civilization, there will only be fragmentary bits and pieces of the Internet available to archeologists. They will come across the writings of JSH and conclude that he was the leading mathematician of the age.
