SL 10.6.4 and Airport Utility Version 5.5.1 (551.19) fails to get
configuration from ethernet managed Airport Express (non-gige) when
Jumbo frames are enabled. Printing to Airport Express attached printer
works just fine. Any thoughts?

You're lucky when consumer grade networking hardware functions at all.
It doesn't seem to be what the brightest minds are working on.

I had a lot of problems with Jumbo frames not working in OS X 10.6.3
(Server and Client). The symptom was that jumbo frames could be sent
but nothing larger than 2000 bytes could be received. It seemed to have
a 50% chance of working after each restart. I haven't seen this problem
in 10.6.4 but maybe I'm lucky. You could try a couple of restarts to
see if the problem is Mac OS X or the Airport.

I was just testing Jumbo frames to see if there was a marked
improvement in performance between my iMac and Macbook Pro connected to
a Netgear Gig-E switch using iperf. It made a 6% difference.
Surprisingly this consumer grade gig-e in the two Macs and the Netgear
got near wire rate speeds.

$ iperf -s

Both have been rebooted. Makes no difference. Fails on both iMac and
MacBook Pro when MTU is 9000. Apple support forums seems to indicate
various Jumbo Frame flakyness with various airport flavors. I've posted
there as well to see what comes of it.
