From: fwall4 on 12 Feb 2010 16:34 Yesterday I checked Windows Updates and was given KB 979099 as an available update. After downloading, this update failed to install. Further research showed that this update is for Win7 but I'm running WinXP Home Edition SP3. How can I remove this update from the list of available updates? I have temporarily hidden it. Why did it show in the first place? Thanks, Fred
From: MowGreen on 12 Feb 2010 16:42 Click the update icon In the window that opens UNcheck the box next to KB979009, click OK. When the next window opens put a check mark next to " Do not offer me these updates again or I'll kill you". (BTW, that's not the exact verbiage but you get the drift) Click OK. That will Hide the update. From: fwall4 on 12 Feb 2010 20:10 Thanks for the quick response, Mow. That's what I did.... but the update still lingers in the "Hidden Updates" file. I want to totally remove the stupid thing from my machine. From: PA Bear [MS MVP] on 12 Feb 2010 21:11 No can do. Get used to it. As long as Automatic Updates doesn't offer it again, you're OK. fwall4 wrote: > Thanks for the quick response, Mow.
