Houston, who shot and killed his neighbor's five month old kitten. He was charged with animal cruelty and terminated from his position with the Highway Patrol earlier this year. His reason for shooting the animal, he says, was because something had been climbing on his vehicle and when he sat a trap to catch the late night trespasser it turned out to be the 5 month old kitten, belonging to his neighbor's child, which had been given to him as a birthday present. When he attempted to release the vicious predator, it “scratched” him and he shot it to death. In the history of domestic kitten's existence, no one's life has ever been claimed or taken by a 5 month old kitten, So at what point could Trooper Houston possibly justify his actions? Was his life in so much danger, that his only option was to take the life of a little boy's harmless pet? How can someone who's job is to serve and protect, possibly justify taking the life of an innocent kitten? Now Houston has come forward claiming he was treated unfairly and wants his job back. Are you kidding me?? All this man received as a punishment was a prayer for judgment continued ruling, a legal finding of guilt that does not impose any penalty. The trooper paid $125 in court costs, oh, and he lost his job. Well ask yourself this, Do we really want someone with this short of a fuse, someone this unstable, to be walking around with a badge and a gun, doing whatever he pleases because he seems to believe he is above the law? Today it's a cat, tomorrow it could be you. The appeal to get his job back was filed May 10th, and a hearing is set for August. There is currently a petition available on the internet, for people to sign to stop this from happening. If you are as outraged as I and many others are over this matter, and want to make sure that EX-Trooper never has the authority to shoot another helpless animal while wearing a badge, please go to the following link: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/trooper-shoots-kitten---wants-job-back---say-no and sign the register to let the authorities in North Carolina know that poor judgment by those who abuse and kill animals will not be tolerated, especially those in law enforcement who are sworn in to protect the innocent! Speak up for Rowdy, the innocent little life that was taken by this man, and for all the other helpless animals out there!
