From: MrsFrog on 13 Mar 2010 12:43 I have had the same problem when updates KB975561, 973917, 979895, 905866, 978382, 890830 and 978380 were automatically installed. I use Vista home Premium edition and had to reboot about 15 times before it all went relatively normal. Rebooting in safe mode, non safe mode, with disc scan or not just resulted in the same effect every time, slow slow and dead slow. :( Seems to be ok at the moment, except that I cannot open too many windows at once or it's the same problem all over again.
From: LD55ZRA on 13 Mar 2010 13:02 Mrs Frog, You have to use a bit of common sense. Microsoft updates are never designed to make your computer secure because if they were, then clearly in 10 years during which we have had endless amounts of updates, critical updates, upgrades, and service packs would have made our system completely full proof. Instead, the systems are slower, crashing all the time and prone to attacks by hackers and virus writers. There is no need for any updates if you have installed Windows XP SP3 and your firewall is configured so as not to allow any exceptions. Also, try not using Internet Explorer for your casual web browsing like Google have done and French and German governments have advised its citizens. This is the only way to make your system secure. Stop all updates from Windows Security Center. hth "MrsFrog" <nscullard(a)gmail.com> wrote in message news:493c1651-29b2-447e-bde3-b0493cebff55(a)t23g2000yqt.googlegroups.com... >I have had the same problem when updates KB975561, 973917, 979895, > 905866, 978382, 890830 and 978380 were automatically installed. From: LD55ZRA on 13 Mar 2010 13:20 I should have emphasized that my advice applies to Windows XP SP3 only because I skipped Vista generation and now I am on Win7 (for which I have no comments thus far) because it was "forced" upon me by my University. If you hadn't replied to "It", I would never have seen it's post, Peter. Thanks for the laugh !
