From: correodejorge2 on 4 Nov 2006 15:27 Hi every one! I have Hp 50g, the ROM version is "HP50-C Revision 2.08" and I can´t use LINSOVE. No matter what ecuations (linear of course) I intruduce (even the example ones) I keep getting the error "LINSOLVE error: Invalid Dimension". Using SOLVE to solve the same linear systems I get the error "SOLVE error: Not exact system" ¿What can I do to make LINSLOVE or SOLVE (with 2 or more ecuations) work on my calculator? I know that there are other options to solve systems of linear ecuations like the A·X=B matrix way but it takes much more time than the other methods. Thanks PD: I have look throught this group and found various threads that say that the problem I have is some kind of bug of the ROM. If it is, then my question is: Will it be solved with the ROM 2.09 that is available in hpcalc.org? I don´t want to change ROM if it is completely necessary and I´m sure it is going to work. PD2: Sorry for the spelling or the grammar if I made a mistake.

That bug was fixed in ROM version 2.09; although http://www.hp.com/calculators/graphing/50g/ *still* does not show that there is a newer ROM update for it! You can download it from here, however: http://www.hpcalc.org/hp49/pc/rom [r->] [OFF]

The file at www.hpcalc.org was obtained directly from HP, and it works (fixes the LINSOLVE bug); when HP retired the 49G+ model from their web site and replaced it with the 50G model, they somehow managed to forget the original link leading directly to the HP "update software and drivers" page, thus slightly shooting themselves in the foot once again, as people find that something doesn't work, yet there's no hint from HP about an available update. There are archived newsgroup posts giving a direct link to where HP hosts that ROM update file itself, but you'll get the exact same thing anyway. It will come with instructions telling you that you must purge your Equation libraries from flash and re-copy them from the ROM update file, but if you want to save yourself unnecessary work, do just the ROM update (there was *no* update to Equation libs between 2.08 and 2.09) [r->] [OFF]
