FAT16 FS type on USB stick I want to backup /home on my Slackware Linux 12.2 installation before upgrading. I have a Dane Elec 2GB USB stick for the back up. $fdisk sda displays ID: 6 System: FAT16 for this stick. Do I need to create a Linux partition (ID: 83) before I can use the stick to backup /home? Thanks &... 25 Dec 2009 11:28

At the same time I also see many retransmissions in: cat /sys/class/infiniband/cxgb3_0/proto_stats/tcpRetransSegs 491998 Just curious whether this is "normal" or a cause for wor... 21 Dec 2009 22:26

My question is, is it still cheaper to gather the bits and self-assemble? There do seem to be some very good value PC's online e.g these two :- http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/index.php?page=spec&... 12 Dec 2009 03:47

Can AMD's Cool'n'Quiet kill my CPU and PSU? Hello. A few days ago, I came home to my already powered on old Linux/Debian computer desktop (leave it mostly 24/7). I woke it up to log in from its xmatrix screen saver and sleep. I ran a program (just upgraded VirtualBox and wanted to test it) and it hard locked up on me. No lights on my old PS/2 keyboar... 28 Dec 2009 01:00
CD/DVD output formats. Because they're so bulky and seldom used/needed I never had a CD/DVD reader/writer. But now I bought one from a friend, who's son apparently didn't like it. I'm guessing that the 'sound' is damaged ? It's a 'Samsung writemaster': standard 40-pin IDE cable type, fitted into a USB interface box [which is nice, ... 4 Dec 2009 12:51 |
