As is the case with NEDIT, http://www.nedit.org/screenshots.php, which
although rather dated (2005) loads instantly and is probably the fastest
editor I have ever used on a Linux system. It has a few quirks, which are
more than made up by speed. Supports tabs, split windows etc. The macro
facility is very easy to learn.

Oh, but it's not as if people haven't shut down their computers while in
the middle of a vimtutor run, because they don't remember the first
lessons, because they've tried to cram too much into their skulls.

For anybody who just needs a TUI client to edit a few things and save
(as with config files), either pico or nano is usually handy or can be
gotten quickly. (If I wanted a TUI for coding or any serious writing,
it would be vim. But I don't. ;)
