From: gray asphalt on 28 Dec 2009 22:01 I'm not an expert, bam (by any means :) but ... the Logitech Z5 USB speakers are on sale for $30 at Amazon ($99 reg). I bought two sets. They load as seperate audio outputs and are assignable in Sonar. The latency is low ... same as my onboard card ... a little on piano but not really noticeable for me on strings when using a soft syunth etc. ; remote to control Windows Media player and a few other players .... speakers have a USB receiver. Spkrs powered by USB, volume ok for a small room ; look real nice seperate input for mini audio input but USB must be connected for power.

Consider that if these things can be sold for $30 then they probably have no more than $5 worth of parts in them. As for the latency, if you are creating music with a DAW then you now have the DAW's latency PLUS the latency of these speakers to contend with.

The latency is with the DAW (Sonar 8.5). These speakers used to sell for $100 and the quality appears to be good. Why trash something you haven't seen or tried? Their rating on Amazon, when they sold for $100 is 4 stars: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=logitech+z5&x=0&y=0 I'll post again when the price goes back up, if it does. They'll be a lot better then. : -\
