From: coltrane on 16 May 2010 00:40 I have an old asus p4p800-e board with a cpu that has heat issues and who doesn't have heat issues. I am trying to find a cpu fan to replace the stock fan. Any suggestions? thanks john I posted this question here because the mainboard group doesn't get any action
From: Barry Watzman on 16 May 2010 03:34 Newegg or E-Bay. The Intel stock fans and heatsinks (with brass core) are actually pretty good. But if you want to spend more, the Zalman coolers are usually considered among the best. coltrane wrote: > I have an old asus p4p800-e board with a cpu that has heat issues and > who doesn't have heat issues. The fan is contained, inside the heatsink. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835154001 Heatsink Dimensions 131 x 108 x 153mm http://www.tuniq.com.tw/Cooler%20Info/Tower-120.htm Thermal Resistance 0.16 - 0.21 C/W http://www.xbitlabs.com/images/coolers/tuniq-tower120/x-install1-b.jpg (Installation manual as a JPG) http://web.archive.org/web/20070109115616/http://www.tuniq.com.tw/Cooler+Info/images/Tower+120+Manual+01-08Web.jpg ******* I used this one on mine, and it was OK. It comes with a Fanmate II speed controller, for manual adjustment of fan speed. The AlCu version is $10 cheaper. With the 7000, the power supply has to be about 9.5mm from the top edge of the board. You have to check more carefully with this one, for mechanical issues. Clearance required is a max of 30.5mm from the top edge of the motherboard, to the PSU casing. It depends on the orientation of the S478 socket on the motherboard.
