From: baoyang on 10 Jun 2010 20:19 I have bought a Dell Studio XPS 9000 desktop in May 2010 with the following details: Intel Core i7-920 processor (8MB L3 Cache 2.66 GHz, 9GB 1066Mhz DDR3 6DIMM, 1TB 7200RPM serial hard drive. ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB GDDR5 The windows experience scores are: Processor 7.4 Memory 7.5 Graphics 1.0 Gaming graphics 1.0 Primary hard disk 5.9 How come the Graphics has a score of 1? Any problems with my computer? Is it hardware or software problem? Is that possible to fix it? I do not know much about computers, so any information would be useful. Thanks
From: Animenia on 11 Jun 2010 05:34 Hi. If you update the score does it remain the same for your graphics score? Try update the driver to your graphics card -- The one that came with the CD or pre-installed on the system might not be the latest one. / Ani

In addition to updating the drivers, I would suggest going into the options for your video card and making sure everything is set to the defaults - just in case the problem is something currently set to a wacky value. As far as updating the drivers, I would recommend using the ones from the manufacturer's web site rather than ones from Dell or from Windows update. Follow the driver installation instructions on ATI's web site carefully. -- Nick <mailto:tanstaafl(a)pobox.com> For those who have trouble remembering the words for the song '99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall', somewhere on the Internet there's a page with the complete lyrics: all 100 verses! From: Nick on 12 Jun 2010 13:24 I need to get my eyes checked... Just realized that your computer has the exact same ATI card as my XPS 9000. My graphics and gaming graphics scores are both 7.7, with the latest ATI drivers. I updated to the latest ATI drivers from their web site shortly after I got the computer, and honestly don't remember if I ever checked the score while I still had the original Dell drivers installed. Note that ATI is now part of AMD; here's the link to their web site: <http://www.amd.com/> -- Nick <mailto:tanstaafl(a)pobox.com> Clarke's Third Law: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
