The spam problem is almost entirely limitted to reading via google groups. If you use pretty much any other usenet news server, you won't see much of it at all. I use www.supernews.com . The amount of spam is overwhelming. All of the spam is coming from http://groups.google.com/comp.lanf.fortran though. Lynn
