I have installed -
MSXML 4.0 SP2
MSXML 6.0 Parser

I am looking at uninstalling redundant software and I don't know what they
do or whether or not I actually need them. Any advice please?

Thanks Leonard. The Wikepedia describes MSXML thus "Microsoft XML Core
Services (MSXML) is a set of services that allow applications written in
JScript, VBScript, and Microsoft development tools to build Windows-native
XML-based applications. It supports XML 1.0, DOM, SAX, an XSLT 1.0
processor, XML schema support including XSD and XDR, as well as other
XML-related technologies."

This may work for you but it conveys no meaning to me. Perhaps you would
like to explain?

Thanks.

Try this link Bill.
It's still a little terse but....

It's an essential part of the Windows operating system.
