Likewise. But it wanted more than 4GB spare disk space and I had to
clear up some stuff first.

Weighed in at that figure on the Mac mini, the iMac however swallowed
641.1MBs, both from 10.6.3.

Job done.

10.6.4 was needed here, I have had the smb file transfer problem with my
Netgear Stora NAS and to Windows 7, --- don't have permissions for some
files ---, the extended attributes issue. Seems OK now.

The mid 2010 MacBook and MacBook Pro were originally supplied with a
custom build of 10.6.3. For some reason they needed more files updated
to catch up with the general release of 10.6.4.

All older models should be offered the 315.5MB update via Software
Update (assuming you were up to date with the latest security update).

The Mid 2010 Mac Mini is different again. It is probably supplied with
an even later custom build of 10.6.3, and it is so new that it wasn't
supported by the general 10.6.4 update (probably because Apple didn't
want information about its existence to leak through developer seeds).

Apple has supplied a separate 10.6.4 update for the Mid 2010 Mac Mini,
which is 403 MB for the manual download version. I expect the Software
Update version for that model will be somewhat smaller than 315 MB.

If someone does get the new Mac Mini, I'd be curious to know what size
it reports in Software Update for the 10.6.4 update, and what build
number is reported after installation.

For reference, the build number of the general release of 10.6.4 is
apparently 10F569 (I haven't downloaded it yet, so it would be handy if
someone else can confirm this).

To find out the build number, go to About This Mac and click once on the
grey "Version 10.6.4".
