I am using Apple Mail on my new computer after transferring information
from an old volume. I have several accounts. All seem to work well
except for one. For this one, I get the spinning spokes when I am
downloading new messages. When that is happening,I cannot quit
gracefully. I have to force quit.

I am able to send from this account without a problem even while the
spinning is going on. I do not receive anything when I send a message to
this account. As I look over the account information, I see nothing
unusual. The only thing that I can think of is that the password got
mangled. I am going through all this in detail tomorrow, including
making sure that the password is correct. Meanwhile, I would like to
know if this has been seen by others.

I would delete the account and its password from the Keychain, and key the
server information in manually.

Dumb Newb question here-- how do you do delete stuff from Keychain?

Launch the Keychain Access application (/Applications/Utilities/Keychain
Access), select the offending entry, and press the delete key.

Use the Keychain Access program, found in the Utilities subfolder of
the Applications folder.
