What release of Exchange? Moving the mailbox to a different database would force a recomputation of the item counts and folder sizes. If that's not possible, make a backup of the database. Dismount the database and run isinteg with the "-test mailbox" or '-test alltests" parameter. That will also recompute the item counts and folder sizes.
