I've seen a lot of posts on this but no fixes. I just moved up to
2010a from 2007b (32 bit Windows XP) and took a massive editor
performance hit. It seems to get worse as the size of the .m file
increases. It also seems to get better if I kill Matlab and re-start.
I have one .m file at about 7000 lines and it's very noticeable there.
Minor improvement if I shut off the code checking but that doesn't
seem to be the whole story. Any help is appreciated.

Second that! Except in my case the slowness seems more associated with figures. After just minutes into a session and generating a few figures, I can get into a situation where typing 'figure' to generate a blank figure can produce a 5 second hang, where I can't even access the command line. Since I've upgraded to 2010a I spend a lot of time sitting and waiting for access to the command line and editor while my last figure hangs.

I reported this to technical support, but no help.

Anybody else?

I'm on 64-bit XP. I have 6GB of RAM. I have increased my Java heap memory to max, and I have updated my video drivers and switched default renderers to no avail.

I miss my 2007, which was lightning fast.

Too much JAVA and slickness bogging us down??

Would it be better in Windows 7?
