I'm New in Matlab ... i have two problems as a beginner

First:
i read too much in matlab Help i knew about looping syntax, matrices, vectors ... all essential stuff and every time i read and try to apply writing an M-file i find myself lost & cant apply.

Secondly: (not strictly a matlab related problem)

i use matlab mainly for Image processing & fuzzy ... but my problem with fuzzy is that i understand the concept very well but i cant extract the rules. maybe it depends on logic & background experience? but i have no experience or wide knowledge (i searched many books (ex. J Ross, Cox E. The Fuzzy Systems Handbook, Fuzzy Systems Engineering .. and more) that i may find one telling me the steps which should be followed to extract the rules, to know their numbers, relations ... to know which membership function is suitable to be used but i couldn't find it mentioned in any book, they just explain the concept, followed by a ready example), . till now i couldnt know what should be done to implement any situation using Matlab, to write a matlab program to implement fuzzy concept on any aspect of image processing as just a start or an application ... any hint or help ?

maybe my question is vague, if so please tell me
