We received these in our production sqlserver error log last night:
2006-08-31 17:34:06.22 spid342 startsubprocess: Limit on 'Max worker
threads' reached.
2006-08-31 17:34:13.58 spid236 startsubprocess: Limit on 'Max worker
threads' reached.
2006-08-31 17:34:16.55 spid335 startsubprocess: Limit on 'Max worker
threads' reached


Followed by a few thousand of these:
2006-08-31 17:34:21.53 spid4 Process ID 341:43 owns resources that
are blocking processes on Scheduler 3.
2006-08-31 17:34:21.55 spid4 Process ID 341:43 owns resources that
are blocking processes on Scheduler 3.
2006-08-31 17:34:21.55 spid4 Process ID 341:43 owns resources that
are blocking processes on Scheduler 3.
2006-08-31 17:34:21.56 spid4 Process ID 208:101 owns resources that
are blocking processes on Scheduler

Users could not connect to the server either at this time.
Our server setting is set to 255 for max worker threads.
