Recently installed McAfee total protection antivirus together with
Virtual Technician ( MVT ), on Pentium IV running Windows XP. The
antivirus appears to be functioning OK, but the MVT just repetedly
gives the error: "MVT cannot continue until you've rebooted your PC to
finish your McAfee Virtual Technician product upgrade. MVT will resume
after you reboot your system". I have determined that the MVT is
version 5.5.1.0 . When I attempt to uninstall the MVT, I get the error
message: "Error1316. A network error ocurred while attempting to read
from the file: C:\Documents and Settings\Steve\Local
Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\RKJ6ISJI\mvt_en-us.msi".
Any help to resolve this will be greatly appreciated, and thanks! ...

Go to the macafee site, and search for the macafee removal tool.
Use it, then re-install, or install a better one, like avast or avg.

The 1st step before using the removal tool, is to uninstall components
using the Add/Remove in Control Panel, which just gives the
"Error1316 .... " message when attempting to uninstall MVT ...

McAfee has provided assistance in removing and correctly reinstalling
the MVT, including a necessary Registry tweak. All's working well now
