Hi John,

Unless there's a setting that I couldn't find,
Nero seems to always reencode the video, even
if it's already in MPEG-2 format. If that is
the case, the conversion will not be lossless.
But I do agree with you that it does a good
job anyway.

If there is a way to force Nero to NOT reencode
the video, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks.

Microsoft doesn't have a very coherent story here.

On one hand, WMV is great, and you can easily use WMM2 to create WMV. But
MCE (now in its third release), still doesn't have an option to record TV
shows to WMV; my understanding is that DVR-MS is a MPEG-2 variant and is
need because there isn't yet hardware available to encode WMV.

Hello,

I have not seen it done myself, but, I am told that Nero 6 will provide
editing for MCE created files. According to the website you quote it is
easy to create the files on an RW disk...the rest would fall into the
Domain of Nero which provides full editing facilities for DVD-VR. Having
checked on Nero's site I do not find any mention one way or other about the
Microsoft format...it would be a little strange though if your remarks were
true, considering how much effort Nero have put into the VR technology

"Bob [MVP]" James, you are mistaken. NeroVision Express 3.0, included
> is in Nero 6 Ultra

Thanks Bob I have Nero but not Nero 6 Ultra so maybe I should download it
and try it out.
I have adjusted my notes forgot "DVR-MPEG not Yet Implemented". Have to use
DVR-Ripper:)

Excuse my confusion Don1
