Unfortunately it's highly unlikely that there will be any Microsoft Windows 7 newsgroups. Apparently Microsoft has decided that web-based forums are better than newsgroups and they are putting their efforts there. I'm personally sorry that's the case, but it's their decision, not mine. However there is at least one non-Microsoft Windows 7 newsgroup: alt.windows7.general. Not all servers carry it (at least not yet), but here's one free news server that does: aioe.org -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP (Windows Desktop Experience) since 2003 Please Reply to the Newsgroup
From: Leonard Grey on 5 Mar 2010 14:23 This is all my opinion, so I hope everyone likes salt. The experience of a moderated, owned web forum can be very different from the experience of an essentially unmoderated public newsgroup. It seems that Microsoft has decided that peer-to-peer communication should constitute a significant portion of its official support for Windows 7. Therefore, they instituted moderated, controlled web forums. The advantage is: You're more likely to find authoritative help. The disadvantage is: Big Brother is watching. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est Ken Blake, MVP wrote: > On Fri, 5 Mar 2010 12:02:33 -0500, "sharkman" <shark(a)verizon.net> > wrote: > >> Are there any out there? > > > Unfortunately it's highly unlikely that there will be any Microsoft > Windows 7 newsgroups. Thanks, Ken. I found that one and there is a lot of bullcrap going on there.. I was hoping for a moderated one like the ones for XP that I enjoyed so much when I was running XP.. sharkman "Ken Blake, MVP" <kblake(a)this.is.an.invalid.domain> wrote in message news:iaj2p5dk914mm8stmt4lrvnqvspomtra52(a)4ax.com... > On Fri, 5 Mar 2010 12:02:33 -0500, "sharkman" <shark(a)verizon.net> > wrote: > >> Are there any out there? > > > Unfortunately it's highly unlikely that there will be any Microsoft > Windows 7 newsgroups.
