Some websites now require that you have Flash version 10 instead of
version 9.

Flash 10 won't install on win-98 unless you have installed a third-party
API helper like KernelEx.

However, a simple modification done to the main Flash DLL (NPSWF32.dll)
will make it appear that you have flash 10 when you really have flash 9.

The modified file is available here:

http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/7/19/2010382/NPSWF32.ZIP

The password to unzip that file is "a" (no quotes).

After you unzip it, rename it to NPSWF32.dll.

Copy it over-top your existing file with the same name. It should be
located here:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MACROMED\FLASH

Before you do that, you should first update your windows 98 or ME system
to the latest flash version 9, which can be done here:

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/installers/current/9/install_flash_player_9.exe

Note: This is the download link for the Netscape version of the Flash
player, not the IE version.

This is the download link for flash version 9.0.277.0. The modified DLL
mentioned above is based on this version of flash. It's internal
version number has been changed to 10.0.45.2.

This modification has been tested using firefox version 2.0.0.20 on
websites such as google street view and youtube and it works perfectly.

Google streetview no longer works unless you have flash 10, regardless
what your browser is. This is one way to correct the problem.

I changed the original one to NPSWF32.old, then moved the new one
into the folder. You know... just in case.

I only had 9.0.260.0, but nothing seems to be complaining yet.

That's what I've got.

I didn't even notice (haven't "viewed" in a few days).
Works fine now. Thanks!

How about the links to the websites now require that you have Flash version
10?

And say I have Shockwave Swlnit 11.0r458 on win98
And I do not need version 10 Flash
Pulse I like the Win98 Look of Flash 9

Now if you go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

it will say: For Win98
Install Adobe Flash Player
1.43 MB
Adobe Flash Player version 9.0.277.0
Windows, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Mozilla, Netscape, Aol

Now it will say: For WinXP
Install Adobe Flash Player
2.45 MB
Adobe Flash Player version 10.1
Windows, Firefox, Safari, Opera

See no Mozilla, Netscape, Aol on version 10.1
For some OP are running AOL on Win98..
